Crossrail comes closer to Ealing this month with first sight of the new designs for Ealing Broadway station, at the Forum's open meeting on Wednesday 24 July in Ealing Town Hall.  What will this mean for the town?  Will it become just a place to buy property for those who won't actually work or shop here, putting up prices for everyone else, or will it be the key to reviving the centre so that it  becomes somewhere people will want to visit for shopping and pleasure?

We would like to know the things people value and want to see more of.  What single thing  would really make a difference to the attractiveness of Ealing?

It's important to have an integrated bus rail interchange with space for cars & taxis to drop off or collect passengers and their luggage AT the station preferably under cover and without being harassed by parking attendants or CCTV. Hammersmith has the former and Richmond the latter.

An integrated bus / rail interchange is vital. Many people arriving at Ealing Broadway station need to be able to change to buses, taxis and cars easily. This would have a significant effect on the immediate area, reducing people congestion on the pavements, and improving people's lives. There is an opportunity with the car park which runs along the north side of the railway bordering Haven Green.

An integrated bus/rail/taxi station is essential with lifts and escalators, drop of/pick up facilities etc. There is plenty of space to construct a platform over the railway lines which would also offer access to the A406

I have lived in many parts of London, Ealing has agreat host of outside parks , this is its strength to build upon. On the downside, the traffic is a problem and the links between tube/bus etc. If the centre was less congested it would make such outside space and make the shopping more pleasurable. The station is way too small and the trains too small also, obvious to many.

Better tube/bus/taxi interchange is definitely needed (I like the Hammersmith model) and way more space needed for station entry/exit with the current number of people and even higher numbers when Crossrail arrives. When you currently exit the station the crowd is already forced to spill over onto the drop off area/road because there's just not enough pavement in front. To then get to the shopping centre you have to walk through a complete and utter pavement bottleneck towards the traffic lights (made worse by a bus stop there with people waiting blocking the way through for other people). To then cross Uxbridge Rd you get the green light onto the first traffic island, but are then forced to huddle there with 20-odd people because you can't cross the rest of the road because of the way the traffic lights are streamed.

A bold solution would be to redirect traffic and pedestrianise the area from the station to Uxbridge Road/The Broadway, with better pedestrian crossing from there to the (excellent) shopping centre across the road.

A great opportunity has been missed to create the intergated transport interchange mentioned by others.

I do not blame Crossrail, they have their own brief and budget. It is the lack of vision, leadership and drive from Ealing Council (of what ever political party) from years back. Too late now.

But with powers of compulsary purchase, as used for the cinema site ,the existing car park alongside the railway on the north side and maybe the pub could have been utilised, with a concrete platform bridging above the tracks from bridge to bridge to form bus and taxi interchange. Access via subway direct from existing tube/rail platforms.

What a wasted opportunity to create something of worth for use for the next 50 years.
