Our survey: results
The second stage of our public engagement was a wide distribution of a questionnaire, Your town - your plan, setting out the main issues identified by our first review and offering choices for dealing with them. The survey ran for six weeks though August and early September and was publicised through • Residents' Associations around the centre • Businesses • Community groups • Individuals: shoppers, visitors, and young people • Stall at Ealing Festival Several thousand people were contacted and over 300 replies were received. Details of the sample can be seen on the copy of the survey form which can be seen through this link below. Some 290 forms which were returned on line before the cut-off have been analysed with the help of Planning Aid for England. Most people answered all the questions and there were clear majorities – 80% or more - for one choice on most options. There were also many comments on issues identified in the first round of consultation as being important to local people, eg • Open space & heritage • Transport and public realm • Community facilities There was least certainty on questions about how the local economy, particularly retail, should develop, but even here there were clear majorities for particular options. The details for each choice offered are shown against each question on the survey form below.
